Engineer – Technical Affairs, Research & Knowledge Manager
The Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN), the national umbrella organization representing Independent Power Producers (IPPs) in Nepal, invites applications from qualified, competent, and motivated Nepali professionals for the position of Engineer – Technical Affairs, Research & Knowledge Manager.
Position Overview
The Engineer – Technical Affairs, Research & Knowledge Manager will serve as the technical focal person of IPPAN and will be responsible for providing technical leadership in research, policy analysis, knowledge management, project development support, data management, and stakeholder coordination. The position will contribute to evidence-based advocacy, strengthen member services, and support the sustainable development of Nepal’s hydropower and renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical research, sector analysis, and management of energy sector databases and information systems.
- Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, investment profiles, and knowledge products.
- Maintain and update the Project Bank for hydropower, solar, transmission, storage, and other renewable energy projects.
- Provide technical inputs for policy advocacy, regulatory reviews, and stakeholder consultations.
- Coordinate with government agencies, development partners, academic institutions, and IPPAN member companies for the Technical Matters.
- Organize technical workshops, seminars, and capacity-building initiatives as per IPPAN work plan.
- Provide strategic technical and analytical support to the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Committee.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical, Energy Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
- Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in the energy, hydropower, renewable energy, or infrastructure sector.
- Demonstrated experience in technical research, policy analysis, project development, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with GIS, database management, or data visualization tools will be an added advantage.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Nepali.
