An Indo-Nepal event focused on power markets and project development for hydropower development in Nepal. .

Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN), Nepal India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI), and Power Trading Corporation (PTC), India Limited Nepal jointly organized the third Power Summit , with the motto “Harnessing Power” on September 23 rd and 24 th , 2008 in Hotel Yak and Yeti, Kathmandu . The theme of the summit will be “Power Markets and Project Development “. The summit brought together the relevant stakeholders, policy makers, from both Nepal and India to discuss on power markets and project development, in the backdrop of the recent price hike in petroleum products. Developing countries are worst hit from the current turmoil in the price of petroleum products.

The principal objectives of the seminar were to explore the areas of cooperation between two countries for hydropower development; to discuss the technical support for the identified projects; the risks of investing in the hydropower sector; the approaches on mitigating such risks; the power trading opportunities between two countries and to create a common platform for meeting between potential developers and investors.

The two day event brought together relevant stakeholders from India and Nepal for focused discussions and deliberations of the subject. Key officials and decision makers from the Government of Nepal and Industry Associations attended the event. The Summit had 6 technical sessions on various related areas.
