An Indo-Nepal event focused on hydropower development in Nepal .

 
 


PTC India Limited & NBA-IPPAN took an initiative entirely for the private sectors of both countries Nepal & India to host the event “Power Summit 2007” on 17-18 th September 2007 in Kathmandu , Nepal . The format of the event was 2-day, 5 sessions' where one-on-one meetings would also be provided during the course of two days.

The two day event brought together relevant stakeholders from Nepal and India for focused discussions on the subject. Key dignitaries Nepal Government and Industry Associations of both the countries attended the event. With participation by business entities from various segments, the event provided an opportunity to review the last year's progress addressed at Power Summit 2006 and to continue the dialogue between developers and financiers for power projects.

The summit aimed to highlight the tremendous potential of hydropower of Nepal with special focus on inviting the investment participation from private players and to explore the accessibility to the power market in India through Power Exchange. The summit primarily focused on the challenges & opportunities presented by financing needs of hydropower projects along with the discussions on the Indian investment for the domestic power crisis and put the views of national and regional financial sector on the issue as well.

Over 200 participants representing 100 domestic, regional and multinational overseas companies participated the summit. The participants included the leading names in the power sector as well as financial institutions such as SN Power, Butwal Power Company, PGCIL, ICF International, IDFC, PowerGrid, JSPL, IFC Dhaka, Larsen & Turbo, IL&FS, NHPC, ATHENA, ICTC, Himal Power Limited, Standard Chartered Bank, Nabil Bank, Bank of Kathmandu, Everest Bank, Himalayan Bank etc.
