Realizing the Cooperation in development of Nepal’s extensive hydropower development, Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) and PTC India Limited came together and jointly hosted the historic event `Power Summit 2006’ in Kathmandu on 7-8th September, 2006.
The event’s focus was on kick-starting a private sector initiative for hydropower development in Nepal. The event specifically focused on identification of projects that are ready for development and others that are in the pre-development stage; models for projects financing and likely issues in financing; and significant risks perceptions of investors with a view to provide specific recommendations to policy makers in both the countries.
As a follow-up of this event, the proceeding of the “Power Summit -2006” has been published. The publication contains hardcopy of the event’s transcript and presentations. Along will this, an interactive CD containing the pictures, videos, softcopy of presentations, participants list etc. will also be included in the package.

This workshop was organised by Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN) on
17th November 2006 with the support of Royal Norwegian Embassy especially targeted to senior executives of commercial banks to provide the basics of hydropower, limitations of local
financing and to make them aware of inherent risks.
With the key objective of creating accessible environment for hydro project financing, this
program intended to create a communicative platform between the developers and financers so
that more practical policies would be developed to promote hydropower investment in financial
sector.

The Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN) in association with Small Hydropower Developers' Association Nepal (SHDAN), International Center for Small Hydropower (IC-SHP), Winrock International Nepal, Small Hydropower Promotion Project of GTZ (SHPP/GTZ), Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) and ICIMOD organized a four days training/ workshop from on 8-11th July 2005 with the support of Royal Norwegian Embassy & USAID.
The key objective of the workshop was to impart basic technical knowledge and skills on hydropower site selection, plant size optimization, economic analysis, feasibility studies, equipment selection, technical & financial evaluation of potential projects.

This seminar was jointly organized by Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN) and Nepal USA Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NUSACCI) on 24th June 2005 with the support of USAID especially targeted to highlight the opportunities and prospects for investment in the hydropower sector in Nepal, with special emphasis on attracting private sector investment; senior executives of commercial banks to provide the basics of hydropower, limitations of local financing and to make them aware of inherent risks.

This workshop was organized by Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN) on 24th November 2004 with the support of Royal Norwegian Embassy targeting to participate all the stakeholders involved in the hydropower sector.
Realizing the need for addressing inadequacies in the legislation related to hydropower development, this workshop is organized to come up with recommendations so that the inconsistencies, conflicting clauses and lack of coordination among different institutions can be overcome for creating a better environment for hydropower development in Nepal.
