Construction of Mid-Marsyangdi Hydroelectricity Project has been completed. The country's second largest hydro-power project is undergoing a series of tests before coming into operation.
Project Assistant Director Lok Prasad Nepal confirmed that works relating to construction and equipment installment of the 70 MW project have been completed.
"Currently, we are running tests on the reservoir by channeling water into it," he said.
After testing all equipment, the project that started in 2001 with joint investment of the Nepal government, Nepal Electricity Authority and German government-owned development bank KfW, will be ready for operation.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is scheduled to inaugurate the project on Dec. 14. |
